Yoko Emi
江見容子(えみ ようこ)は墨が変容する瞬間を捉える作家である。
ある時は、筆に含ませた液体の墨が、着筆時に紙面上に移動し、その後ゆっくりと紙の中へ沁み込んでゆく様を濃墨で立体的に表現する。またある時は、淡墨の滲みを独自の手法でコントロールし、あり得ないほどの幻想的なグラデーションを表出させる。幼少期から書を始めた容子は、墨と戯れることで、その特性を体得してきた。彼女は、壮大な歴史を持つ文字が愛おしく、その文字からイメージを膨らませた作品を、そして更にその文字の枠を超えた現代的な脱文字（抽象）作品を日々追及し続けている。創作過程においては気韻生動を尊び、自らを投影する表現を模索している。

Yoko Emi is an artist who captures moments when Sumi ink is transformed.
Sometimes, she uses darker shades of ink to represent the three-dimensional effect of liquid sumi soaked into the brush being transferred onto the paper as the brushstrokes are applied and then slowly sinking into the surface. At other times, she controls the blurring of light sumi with an original technique to express gradations that are fantastic to an almost impossible degree. Emi, who began practicing sho from a young age, has mastered the characteristics of sumi by playing with it. She adores characters that have a majestic history, and she continues on a daily basis to pursue works that develop images from characters, as well as contemporary works that transcend characters, or abstract works that extend beyond the boundaries of characters.
In the creative process, she values elegance with vibrancy, and she seeks expressions that are projections of herself.
